Five Cold Knowledge of UV Ink

Five cold knowledge about UV ink of UV printer:

Cold knowledge 1: The curing speed of UV ink is affected by color

M, Y, C and K are in this order, especially if K is printed at a high density, incomplete curing may occur.

There is almost no difference between M and Y in the curing speed of the color, but C slows down, especially K slows down.

The reason is that the carbon used for black UV ink absorbs light

Even if it is irradiated with UV light, the reaction starting point cannot be fully produced, and the curing becomes incomplete.

M and Y hardly absorb ultraviolet light, while C, K, especially black, absorb ultraviolet light to a large extent.

Cold knowledge 2: The concentration control of black UV ink is very important

Black UV ink is grayish. If the black is too large, there is a risk of poor curing and adhesion, resulting in adhesion, so it is difficult to absolutely control the density of black UV ink.

Cold knowledge 3: The viscosity of UV ink changes with temperature has a great influence

UV ink tends to have a large viscosity change with temperature

In the morning when the UV printer is cooled, the UV ink may be too hard, and at noon when the temperature rises and becomes hot, the UV ink will become soft. In order to maintain the smoothness of UV ink, air conditioning is usually installed in summer and heating is installed in winter.

Cold knowledge 4: The glossiness of UV ink is lower than that of oil-based ink

The reason why it is difficult to obtain high gloss compared with oil-based ink is because UV ink cures very quickly and it will cure after printing before it becomes smooth and glossy. Since light is diffusely reflected on the surface of UV ink, the gloss becomes difficult to appear.

Cold knowledge 5: Intermediate colors in UV ink cannot be reproduced

The neutral colors of UV ink (subtle colors such as light beige, light gray, etc.) are difficult to reproduce, and the UV printer needs to be tested before each printing.
